LEH, MAY
04: The Minister for Cooperatives
& Ladakh Affairs, Chering Dorjay, today inspected various developmental
works currently under execution in Leh.
The
Minister was accompanied by SE, PWD Leh, Tashi Chombel, Executive Engineers,
PWD Leh, and a team of junior engineers.
While
inspecting the ongoing excavation works for sewerage and drinking water
projects at Changspa, Skara and Skalzangling, the Minister stressed on time-bound completion of these works by ensuring minimum
inconvenience to commuters. Highlighting
the importance of these futuristic mega projects, he asked the engineers to
work with dedication for timely target achievement.
On the
occasion, the Minister was informed that an amount
of Rs. 217.35 crore have been sanctioned under JNNURM scheme for four major projects in Leh, including augmentation and
re-organization of the Leh Water Supply Scheme (at an estimated cost of Rs.
70.48 crore), sewerage system in Leh (at an estimated cost of Rs. 59.39 crore),
solid waste management in Leh (at an estimated cost of Rs. 10.94 crore) and
improvement of roads in Leh (at an
estimated cost of Rs. 76.53 crore).
Dorjay
also inspected the ongoing work for construction 11.87 Kms road length from Choglamsar to Spituk and
Skalzangling to Agling being undertaken under the Central Road Fund (CRF)
scheme at an estimated cost of Rs.19.74 crore.
The Minister
directed the engineers to engage more labours to speed up the project. The SE
PWD was asked to float tender for Choglamsar-Hemis Road (estimated at a cost of
Rs. 1989.43 lac) and
Martselang-Kharu-Leh Road (estimated at a cost of Rs. 687.00 lacs) under the
CRF for the earliest allotment of these works.
The Minster
also reviewed the progress of ongoing work on Controlled Atmosphere Storage and Cold Storage facilities coming up at
Rs. 9 crores at Agling during the inspection.
Councillor,
Lower Leh, P. Wangdan, also accompanied the Minister.
