JAMMU, JUNE 21: The 3rd edition of
International Yoga day was celebrated across Jammu province with great vigor
and enthusiasm.
At Udhampur, a large number of people
participated in special yoga classes organized by district administration in
collaboration with different NGOs to mark the 3rd International Yoga Day under the theme 'Yoga For Health' at Government Degree College Boys.

Niraj Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Avny Lavasa, Additional SP, Faisal
Qureshi, Commandant 187 BN CRPF, Harindar Kumar, Second-in- Command 187 Bn
CRPF, Devanand, Chief Planning Officer, Ashok Khajuria, Chief Medical Officer,
K.C Dogra, senior officer of civil, CRPF and Police, Representatives of
Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Bhartiya Yog Sansthan, Art of Living, large number of
students, women and prominent citizens participated in the yoga session.
In an hour
long yoga session, the MLA along with DDC, district officers and prominent
citizens performed many important yoga aasnas (Yoga poses).
At Reasi, Department of Youth Services and
Sports in collaboration with Bharat Swabhiman Trust and District Unit of
Patanjali Yog, observed “3rd International Yoga Day”.
District Development Commissioner, Ravinder Kumar was chief guest while
SSP Tahir Bhat was guest of honor on the occasion.
Among other officers of district administration, doctors, members from
various organizations, prominent citizens, Yoga experts and learners
participated in the programme.
A two hours yoga session was conducted by Madan Lal, Jaswant Singh and yoga instructors of Patanjali Yoga Peeth
in which all the participants evinced their keen interest in the yoga exercises
taught to them.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC appreciated the efforts of Youth
Services and Sports and other organizations in observing the day every year
which attracts local people towards yogic exercises. He said modern eating
habits and life styles have affected the health of people to a larger extent
and yoga is one stop solution for all.
At Kathua various educational institutions, Government departments, social
organizations, NCC units today participated to celebrate 3rd International Yoga
Day with vigor and enthusiasm.
Nehru Yuva Kendra in collaboration with district administration and
AYUSH observed “International Day of Yoga” at auditorium of GDC Kathua.
Deputy Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar was the chief guest on the occasion. He said that today people of 177 countries are celebrating Yoga day for
bringing peace and harmony in their lives. He appealed the people especially
youth to adopt Yoga in their routine life as it leads to strengthening of both
mental and physical health which is pre-requisite for peace and prosperity in
society.
DC also highlighted the importance of yoga saying that yoga is an
invaluable gift of India to the world which brings harmony in all walks of
life, promotes health and stress management by checking anxiety and many
lifestyle disorders. It not only enlightens the mind but also the soul, he added.
A large number of persons from all walks of life, Youth Clubs, Mahila
Mandals, Patanjali Yog, various social, religious, yoga and meditation
organizations, NGOs, education institutions and Police Training Schools
participated in the yoga session.
At Rajouri, under the supervision of District
Development Commissioner, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, the AYUSH Department
of Indian System of Medicines in collaboration with District Youth Services
& Sports department observed the 3rd International Yoga Day.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mumtaz Ali Chowdhary along with
government employees, sportspersons and students performed various yogasanas at
PWD Dakbunglow.
Speaking on the occasion the ADC said practicing yoga keeps both body
and mind healthy and one should practice it regularly.
The day was also observed across the district. At Sub-Divisional
headquarters Nowshera and Sunderbani, SDMs Harbans Lal and Kartar Singh
respectively inaugurated the IYD.
The United Nations declared June 21 as the International Yoga Day on
December 11, 2014.
At Poonch, a program was organized by District Youth Services and Sports Department
under the supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer Poonch.

Rajiv Panday was chief guest on the occasion while Additional Deputy
Commissioner, Gurvinderjeet Sinng was the guest of honour.
At Doda, yoga programme was organized by
Assistant District Medical Officer (AYUSH) in collaboration with Deptt of Youth
Service and Sports and District Administration.
DDC, Bhupinder Kumar was chief guest on the ocassion. SSP Shabir
Khatana, ADC Mohd Hanief Malik, CMO Wajid Ali najar, DYSSO Ashok Kotwal and
other district officers were also present.
At Ramban, Ayush, Youth Service and Sports, Information and Public Relation and
Patanjali Yog Peeth in coordination with District Administration organized 3rd International Yoga Day at Government Higher Secondary School Ramban.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Ramban, Neelam Kumar said that present
generation must inculcate Yoga in their life and make it habit to perform the
exercises of Yoga on a routine basis. He said similar activities are required
for children in their home and for the students in schools. He also lauded the efforts of PM
Narinder Modi for providing a platform to Yoga internationally.

Among other Doctors, Members of Patanjali Yog Peeth Ramban, prominent
citizens and a huge gathering of Yoga experts
and learners were also present there.
Similar Yoga Camp was also held at Batote and BVM High School, Ramban where
staff members along with their families and stakeholders of the institutions
participated.
At Kishtwar, 3rd international yoga day
was celebrated in Parade ground Kishtwar.
The programme was organized by the department of Youth Service and Sports
in collaboration with district administration.
SSP Sandeep wazir was chief guest. DYSSO, Deewan Chand Thakur besides
other officers were also present on the ocassion.
Yoga camp under the supervision of Director General of Police, Prisons
J&K, S.K. Mishra was conducted by the Art of living organization headed by Hemu Lata.
Later, a cultural programme by the artists of Song
& Drama Division, Ministry of information and broadcasting was
organized in District Jail Jammu.
Superintendent District Jail Jammu, Javid Masood Fazili, also
spoke on the occasion and motivated the jail inmates to make yoga as routine in
their daily life with a purpose to keep themselves physically as well as
mentally fit.
International Yoga Day was celebrated in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal in which jail inmates, jail staff
besides officers/officials participated.

Salathia, Faculty, Art of Living and his team members performed with the Jail Inmates and staff members under the guidance
of Director General of Police, Prisons J&K , S. K. Mishra.
A cultural programme was also organized on the occasion.
