DDC Shopian for coordinated efforts to eliminate gender bias

          SHOPIAN, JUNE 16: The Deputy Commissioner Shopian today called for coordinated and convergent efforts to eliminate all forms of discrimination against girl child in the District.

Chairing a meeting of the District Level Task Force on Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Scheme, and DDC said that the Social Welfare, Health and Education departments, Women’s Development Corporation, Legal Services Authorities and other connected departments must collaborate with each other to ensure that objectives of the scheme are realized to the fullest.

DDC said that at the District level linkages with Panchayats, Anganwadi Centres, PHCs should be strengthened and more such camps and workshops should be organized for public functionaries of different departments to sensitize and train them on the issue of Child Sex Ratio (CSR) and value of girl child & her education.

He further said that mass awareness programmes will facilitate community ownership, participation and creating an enabling environment for survival, protection & education of girl child. He directed officials to identify and felicitate meritorious girls who excel in the field of education, art, sports and social work so that they receive active encouragement to move forward.

SSP Shopian, ADC, DPO, ACD, CMO and officers/official line departments were also present in the meeting.
