DIC organises debate on “Girl Child Education”

 REASI, JUNE 19: District Information Centre (DIC) organized debate on the topic “Girl Child Education” besides presenting a cultural programme here today.

Head Master of host school Dhyan Singh was the chief guest on the occasion while Shanker Singh, retired teacher and a prominent social worker was the guest of honor.

Speaking on the occasion, the Head Master appreciated the initiative of District Information Center in organizing debate and culture programme in remotest school of Tehsil Thuroo. He said such programmes certainly provide exposure to the students and develop confidence in them.

A total of 20 students of host school and Government Middle School Dadar took part in the debate competition and put forth their views on role of education for girls in the present era and the steps required to be taken by the society in encouraging girls towards education. 

Meanwhile, a cultural programme by Pawan Singh and party, students and other local artists of the area was also organized on the occasion in which dogri, Punjabi and hindi song items spellbound the audience.

In the Debate competition, Ambika Soni of class 9th bagged first position, Soni Thakur and Sunil Singh both of 10th standard got second and third position respectively.

Later, prizes and certificates were distributed among the participants and local artists.
