SRINAGAR, JUNE 21: Directorate
of Indian Systems of Medicine & Homeopathy J&K (ISM), today organized 3rd International
Yoga Day at Indoor Stadium Complex.
The event was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar
Poornima Mittal, Director ISM, Chief Medical Officer, Members of Youth Services
& Sports and Sports Council, CRPF besides students of different AYUSH
Medical Institutions.
Highlighting the importance of Yoga, Director of ISM said the practice
of Yoga in daily provides numerous benefits as it results in improved immunity,
better flexibility, and posture besides reducing the the stress levels to a
large extent.
Speakers on the occasion, stressed
on the need to carry forward the Yoga awareness to every nook and corner of the
State by involving NGOs, District Administration, School Education and other
related departments like Youth Services & Sports.
Medical Officers of ISM urged people to take a pledge to make Yoga an
integral part of their daily life as it helps in creating peace and harmony
within oneself.
Pertinently, United Nations General Assembly, heeding to call by Prime
Minister Narendra Modi, had made a declaration in December 2014 to observe June
21 every year as International Day of Yoga.
Renowned
Yoga Expert, Deepak Sharma enthralled the gathering for an hour to instruct the
various techniques of Yoga to the participants.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Poornima Mittal, All Medical Officers of
ISM, CRPF personnel’s and students dedicatedly did various exercises of Yoga.
