Srinagar, Jul 29 : After 'Udta Punjab', drug menace seems to have emerged in Jammu and Kashmir. Police said today a drug peddler was arrested and bhung cultivated at more than 638 kanals land was destroyed in Anantnag district. A team, headed by SHO Aishmuqam, laid a naka at Hangalpawa. Majid Khan, a local resident, was intercepted and about four kg of hashish recovered from his possession. Kashmir Excise & Taxation Department has, so far, destroyed bhung on 638 kanals of land in various parts of the Valley. Yesterday, excise teams had destroyed bhung on 35 kanals in Tangpore and Palpore villages; 82 kanals of land in Markundal village in Bandipora and 35 kanals of land Shaat Malooro village in Shopian. The Department has affirmed that the campaign would continue till the drug menace is rooted out from the Valley. UNI
