DC chairs Road Safety Committee meet

POONCH, JULY 21:  Deputy Commissioner, Tariq Ahmad Zargar convened a meeting to review the implementation & enforcement of road safety measures here at Poonch today.

 The  meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner  Gurvinderjeet Singh, Additional Superintendent of police  Masroor Ahmad Mir, OC GREF/ BRO Gutam Prasad Bania,   ARTO ,Chief medical officer , Chief education officer Poonch, , Executive engineer R&B, beside representatives of  NGOs were also present in the meeting

Detailed discussion were held on  the role and responsibility of each DRSC’s  members/ departments in ensuring  enforcements of  safety norms to reduce accidents . 

  The meeting was informed by R&B department that a survey has   been conducted to mark accident prone areas as black spots. DC asked the OC GREF to take corrective measures in accidental prone areas by fixing sign boards and necessary concretizations at sites as precautionary measures.

CMO & ARTO were directed to chalk out plans for regular medical checkup of drivers & also provisions of trauma centers at identified places on highways. CMO informed the meeting that provision for trauma center has already been purposed at Chandimarah on Mughal road where as ambulance equipped with first aid equipments  is kept at the disposal of quick reaction team to deal with  any eventuality .

DC called for conduct of road safety audits and constitution of vibrant -quick reaction committees so that fatal accidents can be controlled  & precious human lives can be saved .

DC stressed for launch of awareness campaign in school and colleges  to sensitize all stake holders specially school  children who are the change agent in society. Apart from creating mass awareness through rallies, organizing skits and seminars stress was also laid down in penalizing the violators for using mobile phone while driving.

Deputy Commissioner directed the officer of transport department & police to work in close coordination in order to act tough against any traffic rule violations and implement traffic rules in letter& spirit.
