Applauds District Admn for timely rescue of students
RAJOURI, JULY 21: The Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander
Prakash Ganga took stock of facilities being provided in the relief camps in
Nowshera for border migrants here today. He visited 6 relief camps including
GHSS Nowshera, GMS Bawali, GMS Nonial, GHS Nonial, GHSS (Girls) Nowshera and
GHS Gania.
He also interacted with the migrants and gave a patient hearing to their
issues.
The Minister was accompanied by MLA Nowshera Ravinder Raina, ADDC
Rajouri A. S. Chib, GM DIC Yasir Arafat, SDM Harbans Lal Sharma besides
sectoral officers of civil and police administration.
Ganga applauded the District Administration for its proactive and
timely rescue operation for saving lives of more than 250 students and teachers
who were trapped in 3 schools amid heavy mortar shelling. He also expressed
satisfaction over the arrangements being put in place for these migrants in
relief camps by the Districts and Sub-Divisional Administration.
While responding to the demands of border migrants he said, “The issues
of cash relief, allotment of plots in safer places and relaxation in
education norms keeping in view the loss, students suffer due to border
tension, would be taken care off", adding the government will soon
formulate policy for welfare of these border migrants. He directed the
administration to work out the loss of livestock in all the affected villages
so that relief could be provided at an earliest.
He also toured some border villages like Bhawani, Sarya, Khamba, Ans
Bhandar and Jhangar and took a detailed stock of obtaining situation.
Earlier the SDM apprised the minister that 961 families comprising 3812 souls are putting up in 6 camps
in the area.
"Adequate ration, drinking water, continuous electric supply,
sanitation and routine medical checkup of these migrants is ensured and camp
officers are nominated for proper coordination", he said adding a total of
35 structures were damaged including government schools, houses and cattle
sheds due to shelling in these areas.
