New Delhi, Jul 17 : Polling is underway in the Delhi Assembly for electing the 14th President of the country with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his cabinet colleague Manish Sisodia and Leader of the Opposition Vijendra Gupta casting their votes . Mr Kejriwal, Mr Sisodia, Mr Gupta and rebel AAP MLA Kapil Mishra were among the early voters. In first two hours, 15 , out of 69 MLAs. exercised their franchise Carrying an umbrella due to the rain, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Kejriwal cast his vote in room no. 35 of the Delhi Assembly, where voting is taking place to elect India’s next President. His cabinet colleague and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was also among the early voters. Talking to reporters after casting his vote, Mr Sisodia said,''Casting a vote for the highest post of the country is a matter of pride. The country should win”. Talking to reporters, Kapil Mishra said, “My vote went to one who is all set to become next President.” In a tweet later, Mr Gupta said,''I voted for Shri Ram Nath Kovind ji in Presidential poll in DLA. It was proud moment to serve as a polling agent for the winning candidate.'' Notably, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party declared its support for the Opposition’s candidate, Meira Kumar in the election. Seventeen Opposition parties have fielded Ms Kumar as their joint candidate in the Presidential election against NDA nominee Ram Nath Kovind. Both of them are Dalits. As many as 32 polling stations including one in Parliament and 31 in State Assemblies have been created for the polling which began at 1000 hrs and will continue till 1700 hrs. UNI
