BARAMULLA, JULY 17: In connection with the World Population
day, a function was today organized at Dak Bungalow Baramulla in which a huge
gathering of people participated.
Programme was organized by Chief Medical Officer Baramulla, Dr Bashir
Ahmad Chalkoo in which District Development Commissioner Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash
was the chief guest.
District Development Commissioner, during his speech hailed the
endeavours of health department in organizing the programme and said the
necessary measures should be taken in making the programme result oriented.
He lauded the role of ASHA workers and urged upon them to strength the
foundations of the programme at the grass root level towards achieving desired
ends. Moreover, he emphasised on awareness dissemination among common masses
besides sensitizing the people about its positive aspects. The DDC also said
that district administration is committed to provide every basic healthcare facility
to the people.
On the occasion, the CMO stressed upon the various initiatives that
should be taken in controlling the alarming population. He highlighted the
significance of the programme and said that need of the hour is to spread
awareness about the positive aspects of the programme.
Meanwhile, Medical Superintendent Dr Syed Masood also threw light on the
topic and termed education as a necessary tool in this regard. He also
highlighted the impact of growing population rate on the natural resources and
underlined regulating population as the necessary tool for ecological balance.
Meanwhile, Dr Anjum Nazir, a reputed gynecologist of the valley
delivered a special lecture on the topic “concept of family planning” wherein she highlighted various scientific methods of family planning
and management through a Power Point presentation. She deliberated upon the
topic and discussed various related techniques in detail.
Among others Dy CMO, District Immunization Officer, medical officers and
various other paramedical staff attended the function.
