KATHUA, AUGUST 29: District
Information Centre, Kathua organised a symposium on the theme of “National
Sports Day” here today at Nav Adarsh Hr. Sec. School.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Dr Bharat Bhushan was the chief
guest. The members of Private Schools Coordination Committee Kathua and staff
of the host school were also present on the occasion.
Students drawn from different Government affiliated private schools of
Kathua participated in the symposium and expressed their views on the subject.
They highlighted the importance of sports in leading a healthy, disciplined
life and help in the overall development of the students.
They also underlined the need for imbibing the principles of
punctuality, patience, discipline, teamwork and dedication in one’s life.
In his address, the Chief Guest hailed the initiative of Information
Department for providing opportunity to the students to express their thoughts
on a subject of great importance. He also said that National Sports Day is celebrated
in India on August 29, the birthday of hockey legend Dhyan Chand who won gold
medals for India in Olympics in the years 1928, 1932 and 1936. He encouraged students to actively participate in sports activities to
gain confidence and strength to face the challenges of the life.
Later, mementos and certificates were presented to the participating
students by the chief guest.
