EC tells SC most likely next polls to be held with VVPATs, EVMs

New Delhi, Aug 9 :  The Election Commission today filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court stating that most likely the next election would be held with the help of Voters Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPATs) along with electronic voting machines(EVMs). The apex court was hearing several pleas seeking to include VVPATs along with the EVMs. After taking the affidavit filed by the poll watchdog into record, the Supreme Court fixed the matter for further hearing tomorrow. The petitioners, including the Bahujan Samaj Party, demanded that the VVPATs should be included along with the EVMs in elections to ensure that there are no malpractices by any candidate or party. UNI
