Lucknow, Aug 16 : Uttar Pradesh Health Minister Sidharthnath Singh today said that shortage of oxygen at the BRD medical College hospital in Gorakhpur was a criminal offence and the government would not spare anyone found guilty. "We are just waiting for the probe report and then stern action would be taken against the erring doctors, officials and others," Mr Singh said. Reiterating that no child had died when the oxygen supply was totally stopped, the Minister, who is also the government spokesperson of the Yogi Adityanath government, said that the committee headed by chief secretary Rajiv Kumar is still probing the matter and will submit its report soon. He, however, said that as per the report, this year the incidence of AES /JE patients have declined by 8 per cent, which is a good news. "We are committed to eradicating AES by launching cleanness drive, while JE has been taken care of to some extent by vaccination drive among 86 lakh children this year," he claimed. Talking to reporters here after holding a video-conference meeting with the district CMO/CMS and other officials, Mr Singh, when asked to comment on the letter in which the Principal of the BRD hospital had sent a SOS to the government to do something on August 11 as the supply of liquified oxygen was totally stopped, said that the committee is also probing the matter. "The reports of commission behind the delay in the payment, the actual facts of the agreement between the supplier/dealer/ hospital while other things were the part of the investigation," he stated, while adding that already the principal of the BRD hospital has been suspended on prima facie guilty for the incident. The Minister also said that a three-member team of senior doctors from Delhi too are probing the matter and will give their report to the state government. Meanwhile, during the video-conferencing, the Minister issued stern warning to the doctors being absent from duty particularly in the flood prone districts. He also said that there is no shortage of medicines and 400 minimum requirement medicines have been already supplied to the district hospitals. " All the district hospitals have been asked to display the available medicines through a TV at all the hospitals so that the patients can know it. This has already been started in Lucknow," he said. The government has already announced a one-week 'swacchata abhiyan' programme in all the districts where the health and other departments would coordinate. UNI
