No attack on BJP office, cause of blast being verified, police

Srinagar, Aug 20 : Denying reports about attack on BJP office in Srinagar, a police spokesman said that cause of explosion in the area was being verified. He said some rumours are being circulated on social media regarding alleged attack and ransacking of an office of a political party at Raj Bagh in the uptown last night. “This is to clarify that no such incident has taken place”, he said. However, some loud sound was heard which is being verified, the spokesman added. He said there is no apparent damage to the office or neighbouring buildings. The matter is being investigated into. Strict action under law will be taken against rumour-mongers, the spokesman said. However, local media reports that BJP office was attacked with a hand grenade in which windowpanes of the building were damaged. UNI
