New Delhi, Aug 2 : Janata Congress Chhattisgarh chief Ajit Jogi today said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement before the general elections that he will have zero tolerance towards corruption seems to have altered now, with a full stop coming in between zero and tolerance. Addressing a press conference here, the first Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh said the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre was conducting 'selective' probe into corruption cases, that is putting some accused under bars, while leaving others scot-free. He said RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family were being probed in the fodder scam, while investigations were also going on against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her Cabinet Ministers in the Saradha Group financial scandal. However, others like Kartik Chidambaram, son of former Finance Minister and Congress MP P Chidambaram, have been exempted from investigations, Mr Jogi alleged. Two days after raids were conducted at Kartik's residence, he was given permission to fly out of the country, only to return back five days later, the former Chief Minister added. Similar permission was granted to former Indian Premier League (IPL) chief Lalit Modi and liquor baron Vijay Mallya to flee the country, when corruption cases worth crores of rupees were filed against them, he pointed out. Even the probe has been conducted in a limited area, involving only Indrani Mukherjea-owned INX channel. The graft charges have been flying high and far against Mr Chidambaram, but the government is shielding him, Mr Jogi alleged. Pointing fingers at Chief Minister Raman Singh, Mr Jogi said Abhishek Singh, son of Mr Raman, had siphoned off Rs 32,000 crores in the Swiss Bank as kickbacks, received in an AgustaWestland deal, during his father's regime in 2007. 'If the government does not initiate probe in these cases by October 2, then we will launch agitation all over the country,' Mr Jogi warned. UNI
