KUPWARA, AUGUST 05: Directorate of Urban Local Bodies (Kashmir)
today organized a seminar on the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) campaign in
Kupwara.
The seminar was held in collaboration with district administration,
municipal authority, Education and Information departments. Several NGOs
besides civil society members also participated in the seminar.
The topic
of the seminar was Green City, Clean City, My Dream, My City.
Speaking on the occasion, District Development Commissioner Kupwara, who
was the chief guest on the occasion, called on people to avoid using polythene
products, which he said poses a significant threat to environment and human
health. He impressed upon all stakeholders to ensure necessary sanitation
measures are adhered to right from one’s home.
He appreciated the role of ULB Kashmir among other concerned departments
for their efforts.
SSP Kupwara besides experts from different organizations also spoke in the
seminar.
On
the occasion, a students’ rally was also held. The rally went through the
markets of Kupwara town with banners and placards to raise awareness about
hazards of polythene products and using of dust bins in homes.
