SRINAGAR, AUGUST: Tahab
Tigers and Coaching Center Kupwara Tuesday won the
titles in their respective district championship of State Cricket Academy T-20
Championship.
The Pulwama leg of the championship was won by Tahab Tigers beating Shining
Star Pampore by five wickets.
Electing to bat first, Shining Star scored 132 runs for the loss of
eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Batsman Khalid was the substantial
scorer making a brisk 22 from just 16 balls.
For Tahab Tigers, Tariq Ahmad and Mehraj were the successful bowlers
claiming three wickets each.
Chasing 133, Tahab Tigers had some hiccups but at the end managed the
chase comfortably to win the all important summit clash by five wickets.
Batsman Jahangir's 39 and 18 each from Javid Ahmad and Altaf Ahmad, Tigers
scored winning runs in the 20th over. For Shining Star, Shabir and Muzaffar
took a brace of wickets each.
Secretary J&K State Sports Council Waheed Ur Rehman Parra was the
chief guest on the occasion.
He reiterated that Sports Council will provide all the facilities to talented sportspersons to make it big in their
respective fields.
In North Kashmir's Kupwara district, Coaching Center Kupwara beat
Victoria Kupwara by three wickets to win district Kupwara championship.
Coaching
Center Kupwara had put up a target of 139 for Coaching Center Kupwara. Batting
first, Victoria Kupwara posted a decent score of 138 for the loss of eight
wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Zahoor was the highest scorer for making a
solid 32 off 30 balls. For Coaching Center Kupwara, Sheikh Junaid and Azad took
two wickets each.
