GULMARG,
SEPTEMBER 26: One day awareness camp for women was conducted in Tangmarg by the
Applied Nutrition Programme (ANP) wing of the Department of Rural Development
& Panchayati Raj (PR), J&K.
The
camp was presided over by the Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), Baramulla,
Mir Muneer while Tufail Ahmad Rathore, State Nutrition Officer (SNO) was the
chief guest on the occasion. The others present on the occasion were Additional
Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, SDM, Baramulla, BDOs and other senior officers
of the district.
The
speakers stressed on the importance of taking nutritious diet for women to keep
healthy. It was emphasized that a healthy mother gives birth to healthy child.
The
speakers said that government in general and the Department of Rural
Development & Panchayati Raj in particular is running various schemes for
women welfare through which women are benefitting. The schemes are designed to
empower the women and make them self sufficient and independent, the speakers
said.
Speaking on the occasion, SNO Tufail said in this era
women need to be associated with such welfare schemes so as to reap the maximum
benefit of these schemes for their own benefit.
