POONCH, SEPTEMBER 26: To
control the unreasonable rise in prices of essential commodities, Deputy
Commissioner, Tariq Ahmed Zarger today chaired a meeting of officers regarding
fixation and strict enforcement of rates of mutton, chicken, eggs and other
commodities.
ADDC, Abdul
Hamied, ACR, Ashraf Choudhary, Assistant Commissioner Food safety,
Assistant Director FCS &CA , Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, District
Sheep Husbandry Officer, Assistant Controller Legal Metrology, CEO Municipal
Council, DySP (HQ), Naib Tehsildars and traders attended the meeting.
After
threadbare discussions, verification of rates and assessment of transportation
charges, transit weight loss and profit margins, the committee
approved the rate of meat (sheep/goat) including Ojary at Rs. 320
per kg, live sheep & goat at 160 per kg, broiler chicken including dressing
charges at Rs 120 per kg, eggs at Rs 125 per tray & Rs 52 per dozen and
milk at rupees 45-50 per kg.
The Deputy
Commissioner directed the officers of FCS &CA, Food Safety and Legal
Metrology to strictly enforce the rates fixed in the meeting so as to keep
check on anti consumer practices.
In a message
to traders & representatives of Butchers Association, he stressed upon them
to charge reasonable prices.
The Deputy Commissioner particularly stressed for
ensuring cleanliness in the butcher houses. The concerned officers were also
directed to keep a check on adulteration of various eatables besides keeping an
eye on the markets to ensure availability of essential commodities at reasonable/fixed
rates. He also asked them to carry out regular market checking to keep
anti-consumer practices at bay.
