Nikita, Preetika, Neha shine in
competition
JAMMU,
SEPPTEMBER 26: Continuing its drive to create awareness among the masses about
benefits of keeping the environment clean, the Department of PHE, Irrigation
and Flood Control today organized a symposium on ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa - Ways and
Means’ at Institution of Engineers here.
More than 28
students hailing from different public institutions deliberated on the ways and
means to keep the surroundings clean and shared their thoughts on measures to
be adopted for realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of making India
clean.
The symposium was organized by the
department in view of the nationwide sanitation campaign ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’
being observed from September 15 to October 2, 2017.
Former
Administrator, Jammu Municipal Corporation Er. V.N Sharma was the chief guest
on the occasion.
While
speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sharma asked the students to become torchbearers
of change and create awareness among the people to keep the environment clean.
Chief
Engineer, PHE A.K Gandotra deliberated on the need to teach children about
their responsibility towards the society and their role in making the society
and country better places to live.
Chief
Engineer, I&FC P.N Bali, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers,
AEEs and other officers of the department were present on the occasion.
Nikita Bhau and Preetika Bhagat from Govt. Girls
Higher Secondary School, Satwari clinched first and second positions in the
competition and were awarded gold and silver medals along with cash prizes of
Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 3,000 respectively. Neha Gupta from Govt. Girls Higher
Secondary School, Bakshi Nagar secured the third position and was awarded with bronze
medal and a cash prize of Rs. 2,000.
