SHOPIAN SEPTEMBER 21: District Development Commissioner,
Shopian Mohammad Aijaz Asad convened a meeting on
Thursday to review the progress under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), at District
Administrative Complex Shopian.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development, District
Panchayat Officer, all Block Development Officers, Executive Officer Municipal
Committee and other concerned officers besides Village Level Workers.
The concerned officers apprised the DDC about the activities, programmes
and other IEC campaigns initiated by the various departments under SBM with the
help of locals.
DDC exhorted upon the officers for making the people aware about ill
effects of poor sanitary conditions.
The DDC asked the officers to introduce innovative techniques for
disposing the waste materials from the streets and directed them to utilize
funds judiciously by focusing on improving hygiene.
The chair was informed that the Solid waste management centre at Keegam
involving an estimated cost of Rs: 10.50 Lacs is at plinth level and shall be
completed very soon.
The meeting discussed the Action Plan for Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM)
for the year 2017-18 involving the construction of 21,176 Individual House Hold
Latrines (IHHL) and 14 Community Sanitary Complexes in which 9,107 Latrines
have been completed so far.
DDC stressed upon officers to complete the rest IHHL within the
stipulated time period and declare the District ODF.
