REASI, SEPTEMBER 21: As part
of National Sanitation campaign ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’, Krishi
Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi today organised an awareness camp to educate the
participants about the importance of cleanliness and hygiene.
The event was organized under the guidance of Associate Director
Extension (ADE) and Incharge of KVKs of SKUAST-J, Dr. R.K Arora and Scientist
KVK Dr. Banarsi Lal.
In his welcome address, Dr.Banarsi said that Swachhata Hi Seva is a
flagship programme of Government of India to clean the vicinities so that the
mission of clean India can be made successful.
He highlighted the importance of cleanliness and hygiene and said that
major objective of the mission is to eradicate open defecation by 2019- the
150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi ji.
He urged upon the participants to aware people of the district about the
drive to keep towns, villages, campuses, temples, mosques, Panchayat Ghars,
schools etc. clean and green.
The speakers also highlighted the hazards of open defecation and
suggested the participants to motivate the people to construct toilets at their
homes to end open defecation. They said that India will be healthy only when
the villages will be healthy.
The scientists also explained the techniques for solid and liquid waste
management in the rural areas.
Meanwhile, the KVK staff cleaned the official buildings, toilets, crop
cafeteria, poultry farms, software, training hall, laboratory, green shade net
house, mango orchard etc. of the KVK.
