BARAMULLA, SEPTEMBER 16: A day long
workshop cum awareness camp on Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (DEDS)
was today here with Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Farooq Ahmad Baba
as the chief guest.
The workshop was organized by National
Agricultural Bank for Agricultural and Rural Board (NABARD) which marked the
participation of large number of beneficiaries, representatives from Animal and
sheep husbandry departments, financial and commercial institutions, NGOs and
various other cooperative societies.
On the occasion, a detailed account of DEDS was highlighted with a
power point presentation during which various aspects of the scheme were
deliberated. It was informed that under the scheme, various sections of the
society including farmers, Individual Entrepreneurs, NGOs, companies, groups of
organized and unorganized sector, self-help groups, Dairy cooperative societies
and various others are beingbenefited by providing loans at appropriate rates
for establishing income generating units wherein a subsidy @25% for open
category and @33% for SC/ST categories are being provided to the borrowers.
Moreover it was informed that in Baramulla district, about 115 beneficiaries
have been covered among which an amount of Rs 87.546 lakh have been distributed
as subsidy.
