Ahsan was a
symbol of intrinsic good
BANDIPORA, SEPTEMBER 16: Speakers at
a daylong condolence meeting here in North Kashmir’s Hajin
township recalled the contribution of great poet and literary activist late
Muhammad Ahsan Ahsan, who according to them taught the people about the
linguistic activism, humanistic and philanthropic values of living.
The condolence meeting was organized in connection with the Chaharum of
Late Ahsan who passed away on Thursday.
Speakers said that in the demise of Ahsan they lost a magnanimous
literary leader, an orator, and a philanthropist. They said that Ahsan was an
image of intrinsic good.
The condolence meet organized by Adbi Markaz Kamraz in collaboration
with Halqai Adab Sonawari and Wahab Dramatic Club was attended by hundreds of
people from all walks of life who paid rich homage to late Ahsan.
Zafar Iqbal Manhas, Vice President JKAACL while paying tributes to Late
Ahsan said he was compassionate, generous and magnanimous and had the streak of
multi-faceted personality. Always hiding behind the scenes and had his eye on
every miniscule happening around”
Manhas said Ahsan was the guiding light for him when he joined the
academy. “Ahsan taught us to manage the relations and how to be a good human
being. We always will remember his thought-provoking and lasting contribution”
Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages
(JKCAAL) Dr Aziz Hajini said that Ahsan had contributed a lot towards
literature, education, and literary activism while remaining out of the scene.
Recalling Ahsan’s contribution, Hajini said Ahsan has taught scores of youth in the
field of art and literature who are now good poets and artists.
“Ahsan used
to visit every locality in search of talent and later encourage them,” Hajini
said.
Hajini said the best tribute to Ahsan is to follow his footsteps in
letter and spirit.
Highlighting the contribution of Late Ahsan, noted humorist Ayoub Sabir
said, “In him, we saw the perfect blend of the strong will of an able
administrator and the compassion of a philanthropist. In his sad demise, we
have lost a unique elderly touch that had brightened the lives of hundreds of
people during his life time”
Sabir said that Ahsan founded Halqai Adab Hajin in 1962 and contributed
a lot in Adbi Markaz Kamraz.
“He was well
acquainted with the elements of humor, a good humanist, naturalist, a good
teacher and editor,” Sabir said.
Sabir said that Ahsan was known for his magnanimity, oratory and
linguistic activism
Professor Zaman Azurdah while reminiscing Ahsan as ‘behind the
curtains’ litterateur said: “Ahsan was intrinsically good and had a
synoptic view on things while never exhibiting himself”. Adding his
views on Ahsan’s company he delved into the exchanges “I met him in
1962 and found him holding the personalistic view of “being good “we have
journeyed together, whatever I am right now it’s all
because of his timely guidance and mentorship. I have learned the fundamentals
of Kashmiri script-writing and always had some visionistic takeaways in his
company.
His
scholarship was mostly inherited and influenced by Professor Mohiuddin Hajni ” Throwing
light on the character of Ahsan as a person he remarked “He never
tried to be in limelight while always encouraging and exploring others rather
than advertising himself and never had any grudges with anyone around”
“When Ahsan is alive, we are alive, we should try to follow his ideas what he
taught and always upheld during his life of activism” concluded
Azurdah
Maqbool Ferozi and Anayat Gul versified their tributes in Persian and
Kashmiri respectively.
Saleem Salik representing JK Fiction Writers Guild said “Mohammad
Ahsan is alive by his writings, his contribution to Dictionaries, editorials
and other academic journals exhibited his scholarly mettle”
Saleem while referring to Ahsan’s contribution in AMK said “Being a part
of huge organization of AMK Ahsan acted as a tree and provided shade to many”
Noted Poet Fayaz Tilgami said that Ahsan was a great teacher, mentor and
a man of wits who never fell prey to controversy and always had friendly moods
with everyone right or left.
Rahman Rahi the renowned Poet said that Ahsan was man of simple living
with a foresight who used to manage the things by his wits in the silence.
General Secretary Adabi Markaz Kamraz Amin Bhat while paying tribute to
the Ahsan termed him as a literary leader who sacrificed his life in shaping the
raw talent across the Kashmir especially in Sonawari area, he proved his worth
in art, literature, and education being a backbone of AMK and has contributed a
lot to strengthening of linguistic movement spearheaded by Late Ahsan.”
Mehrajud-din in his tribute remarked “He was kind to all and always helped
everyone, he introduced Kashmiri examination in Hajin and always was busy in
forwarding the cause of Kashmiri language.”
Among the others who were present on the occasion include Dr. Muhammad
Mahroof Shah, Mir Tariq, Mansur Ahmad Muntazir, Mubashr Nazki, representatives
of J&K Saqafati Markaz Budgam, Maraz Adbi Sangam, Kreuhn Cultural Forum
(Mohd Yusuf Sameem), Markaz Adbi Sangam, Ahad Zargar Memorial Trust, Gulshan
Cultural Forum,Dilshad Cultural Forum and all the representatives from
affiliated units of AMK.
