RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 14: District
Development Commissioner Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today reviewed the
preparation for fortnightly sanitation campaign ‘Swacchta hi
Seva’ here at a meeting of District district and sectoral officers.
The sanitation drive is starting from Sept 15 and would conclude on October 2,
2017. He passed directions to all the departments to start massive
preparations to make the campaign fruitful.
It was given out in the meeting that the sanitation drive would be
launched simultaneously at district and all sub-divisional headquarters. He directed
officers of all departments to issue calendar of activities for the campaign
days and make the preparations accordingly. The district panchatyat officer, appointed
as nodal officer for the drive, was asked to coordinate with different
departments for effective implementation.
It was also informed that the drives would be held to clean river beds,
parks, bus-stands etc. The RDD officials were directed to sensitize village
health and sanitation committees about the drive for maximum public
participation. They were asked to put in concerted efforts to make the district
polythene free.
The Principals of degree colleges and education department was directed
to motivate students to overwhelmingly participate in the drives across
the district and also sensitize the people especially those living in rural
areas about the importance of cleanliness in and around the villages, educational institutions, health centres and other public
places.
The meeting also discussed many other important issues such eviction of
encroachment on state land and properties of the government departments,
implementation of GST and registration of all departments on GEMS, maintaining
close coordination among officials during law and order problem, demarcation etc.
Taking serious note of encroachment on government land and properties,
the DDC directed all district heads to get the land and property of their
departments entered in the revenue record within shortest possible time.
“All
departments should submit the details of pending court cases along with replies
filed by the departments by 18th of this month as many projects of public
importance are on halt due to court stay,” he said. He also directed the field
officials of essential services departments to promptly attend to people’s issues to
avoid public backlash. He exhorted upon the heads of these departments to ensure that their
field officials reach on the spot at the earliest to resolve the issues to
avoid law and order problem.
He also enjoined upon the departmental heads to identify the
non-performing employees of their respective departments so that action as
enshrined in rules can be initiated against them.
