JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 14- Deputy
Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today asked for formulating DPRs for
face-lifting and developing serene surroundings of Power Development department
installations and office buildings.
Dr. Nirmal Singh passed these directions during surprise inspection of
Office of Superintending Engineer (SE) Electric Purchase Circle – I Narwal
and Office of Executive Engineer Electric M&RE Division II Gandhi Nagar,
here today.
The Deputy Chief Minister went round each and every section to take
stock of functioning of these installations. He directed the officers of
Electric Purchase Circle -I to start the process of digitalization for proper
upkeep and maintenance of records.
The Deputy Chief Minister reviewed the status of expenditure of Rs one crore sanctioned by the government,
under RAPDRP and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) to improve and
upgrade power infrastructure in each urban and rural assembly constituency.
He stressed that government has made it mandatory to complete the works
under these schemes in a stipulated time frame. He asked the concerned officers
to regularly monitor the works on ground so that set targets are optimally
achieved.
During his visit to office of Executive Engineer Electric M&RE
Division II Gandhi Nagar, Deputy Chief Minister was informed that the
department has started online registration of power connections.
While reviewing cumulative inspection report of Jammu division, Nodal
Officer Sanjay Sharma, informed the Deputy Chief Minister that the Department
has conducted 25819 inspections till date during which Rs 2.67 crore fine was
imposed and 7263 connections involving a load of 12660 KW were regularised and
brought under the ambit of power tariff.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the similar drive has been started
in Kashmir and Leh to plug power theft and revenue pilferage.
Interacting
with residents of these areas, Dr Singh appealed to the public to
get their power connections registered and desist from misuse of electricity to
avoid disconnection, fine and legal proceedings. He also asked the concerned
officers to keep their activities at maximum to reduce power pilferage and take
legal action against the unregistered consumers.
Reiterating government’s commitment to provide quality power
to consumers, Dr. Singh said that for this adequate infrastructure has been
created in the state and the results are being felt by the people. He said that
various existing feeders and distribution transformers have been upgraded to
augment supply in power stressed areas.
The Deputy Chief Minister also directed for taking action against some
employees for dereliction of duties.
