KATHUA, SEPTEMBER 13: Deputy
Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar today chaired a meeting to draw up a detailed action
plan highlighting daily activities for the sanitation campaign ‘Swachhta Hi
Seva’ starting in rural and urban areas of the district from 15th of September- 2017.
The campaign
would be jointly conducted by Municipal Bodies, Rural Development, Education
and Social Welfare Departments besides Banks operating in the district.
The DC also called for roping in the civil society members
including women, social workers etc to achieve laid down milestones.
The campaign will conclude on October 2nd on the eve
of Gandhi Jayanti.
“Cleanliness
and hygiene are important aspects of everyone`s life so it is important that
the campaign shall ensure people`s representation at the grassroots level i.e.
at the village, block and district level” the DC asserted. He further added that
building IHHL is the means to achieve the goal of ODF but clean and healthy
surroundings can be achieved only by mass awareness and continuous motivation.
The DC also called for building capacities of stakeholders and
sanitation workers, prominent citizens, Anganwadi workers, SHG members, etc
under Communication and Capacity Development Unit (CCDU).
Special focus shall be laid on cleaning iconic and tourist places
including Lakhanpur – the gateway of J&K from where the campaign will be launched on 15th of
September, he added.
The DC also called for holding regular information, education and
communication activities to spread awareness among all stakeholders about the
personal hygiene and cleanliness in the surroundings.
