| 15 quintal trout, 1.5 lakh seed production recorded in G’bal last fiscal |
GANDERBAL, SEPTEMBER 14: Minister
for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Gani Kohli today visited
Mamar Fish Farm in Ganderbal and took stock of its functioning.
The Minister was informed that 15 quintals of trout and 1.5 lakh seed
production was recorded during 2016-17 in the district. He was also informed
that presently 52 trout ponds and 50 carp ponds are functional in private
sector in Ganderbal district.
It was given out that 142 angling permits were issued during 2016-17,
while as an amount of Rs. 4 lakh was realized as revenue against the sale of
fish from April 2017 to August 2017 at Fish Farm Mamar.
The Minister impressed upon the officials of the Fisheries Department to
conduct frequent field visits to private fish farms and aware them about
technical know-how of fish farming. He also urged upon the youth to take up
fish farming for better employment generation opportunities.
A team of Senior Officers of various Departments including Director
Fisheries accompanied the Minister.
