GANDERBAL, SEPTEMBER 13: To make the women aware of their constitutional rights and also to
mitigate the problems faced by them in the society, the Jammu and Kashmir State
Commission for Women today organized awareness cum interactive programme in
Ganderbal where it’s Chairperson Nayeema Ahmed Mehjoor was the chief guest.
District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal, Additional District
Development Commissioner, Secretary State Commission for the
Women, District Officers besides a mammoth gathering of Asha Workers and
College students attended the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairperson said that Commission has the
mandate to monitor all matters relating to constitutional and legal safeguard
provided for women.
She expressed satisfaction for conduct of awareness programme and
called for organizing such more awareness programmes in future to enable women
and girls to know their legal rights and to understand the procedure and method
of access to the legal systems. The participants raised various issues related
to women during the programme.
The speakers threw light on the issues faced by the women at various
levels. They pitched for equal rights for women in all walks of life and called
for change in social mindset.
