Srinagar,
Sept 28: Life was today again crippled in some areas of Pulwama district
after the death of a civilian, who was injured in a grenade attack by militants
on the cavalcade of a Jammu and Kashmir minister at Tral on September 21. After
battling for life for about six days, Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Tral,
succumbed to his injuries at SK Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar
yesterday afternoon. Though there was no strike call by any organisation, shops
and business establishments were closed and traffic was off the roads. Work in
government offices and banks was also affected due to the strike. Educational
institutes also wore a deserted look. Traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu national
highway was plying normally though security forces have been deployed in
strength to prevent any law and order problem. Meanwhile, people from Tral and
adjoining areas have been since yesterday visiting the residence of Sheikh to express
solidarity with his family. On September 21, Pinky Kour, a resident of
Chattrogam and Ghulam Nabi Trag, a resident of Tral-e-Payeen, were killed while
30 others, including Sheikh, were injured in the grenade attack at Bus Stand
Tral. UNI
