Oct 23: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday claimed to have arrested two
youths and recovered 400 rounds of AK-47 rifle in Srinagar. A police official
said that following specific inputs, a checkpoint was established at Bemina
bypass. He said the youths moving suspiciously were intercepted at the check
point and during their frisking 400 live rounds of AK-47 rifle were recovered.
The youths, identified as Tanveer Ahmad Raja and Shakoor Ahmad, residents of
Kernah in frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara, were immediately taken into
custody, he said. A case has been registered and investigations initiated to
ascertain from where the ammunition was procured by the youths. “We are also
investigation where they had to deliver the ammunition,” he said. Two militants
were early this month arrested alongwith live rounds of ammunition in south
Kashmir. UNI
