PULWAMA,
OCTOBER 06: DDC Pulwama, Ghulam Mohammad Dar today kick-started the divisional
level Under-17 and Under-19 Girls softball ball tournament here at DPL Pulwama,
which is being organized by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports
J&K and hosted by District Youth Services and Sports, Pulwama.
Teams from all
the districts of J&K are participating in this Tournament. Speaking on the
occasion, District Development Commissioner said the purpose of organizing such
events is to nourish the sports talent and inculcate team spirit among the
youths. He said the youths of the state have an immense potential to excel in
this field.
The DDC lauded
the efforts of the Youth Services and Sports Department for holding such events
in the district and assured every possible help for the promotion of sports at
the grass root level.
The DDC
further said that time and again sports has acted as fillip and passport to a
better life. He said such tournaments will give opportunity to budding players
for participating further at State and National level tournaments and called
sports as an emerging career in the modern world.
He said the
need of the hour is to harness the young and potential talent in positive
direction and advised the youth to take part in the sports activities on a
regular basis.
He expressed
hope that the youth of the area would work hard to bring laurels to the state.
Officials of
Youth Services and Sports Department were also present on the occasion.
