Says Imam Hussain
(AS) a role model for humanity
SRINAGAR, OCTOBER
16: Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education, Youth Services
and Sports, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari today said tragic episode of Karbala is a
call for empathy and for standing up against injustice.
The Minister was
addressing a day-long congregation at Chanabal Pattan organized by the Jammu
and Kashmir Shia Association to remember the great sacrifices of Imam Hussain
(AS) and his pious companions in Karbala.
While addressing
the gathering, the Minister said that the spirit of Imam Hussain (AS) lives on
forever in the human conscience, the way he lived and the way he died shows us
the value he placed on morality and honour. He (exalted Imam) taught us the
true purpose of our existence and the perfection of our morals and ethics, the
Minister added.
Moreover, Imam
Hussain (AS) is a role model for humanity as he fought for justice and struggle
to save the religion from falling into the hands of an incapable, indulgent,
unjust ruler who lacked intellect, piety, character and empathy to lead the
Muslim Ummah.
“Imam Hussain (RA)
stood for people’s rights and to protect Islam. He taught us to always stand up
for what is truly ours, he taught us to stand for justice, humanity and never
remain silent in the face of injustice.
Earlier, the
convention started with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the
elegies by prominent zakirs.
Later, a procession
was also carried out having standards (alam) to remember the torch bearers of
Imam Hussain’s (AS) army. Women and children also accompanied the procession in
groups to pay tribute to martyrs of Karbala. The procession culminated at
Hussaini Park Kakerpora Mirgund.
