SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 14: Newly renovated meeting hall of
Legislative Council at Legislature Complex Srinagar was inaugurated by Chairman
Haji Anayat Ali today in the presence of Minister for Parliamentary Affairs,
Abdul Rehman Veeri and Minister for PWD, Naeem Akhtar.
Secretary Legislative Council and Law
& Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Majid Bhat was also present on the occasion.
On the occasion, efforts of Chairman
LC and Secretary & Council Secretariat staff were lauded and their role to
get the meeting hall renovated and fully equipped with the modern technology
was appreciated.
After the inauguration ceremony, a
meeting of Chairmen of all the House Committees/DRSCs and all MLCs was held
under the chairmanship of Haji Anayat Ali.
Haji Anayat Ali stressed upon the
members to be punctual in attending the meetings of the different Committees
and issued a fixed roaster for conducting the meetings in a time-bound manner.
The members also spoke on occasion
and put forth their suggestions before the Chairman for bringing more
transparency in the working of the Committees.
During the meeting, it was
unanimously decided that participation of special invitees in the meetings
would be for meaningful purposes only and not for the purpose of constituting a
quorum. Further 90 percent attendance of members in meeting would be must for
drawl of salary as per the rules.
Further, for understanding tour/study
tour by a Committee, the quorum of the Committee is must and no special invite
would be allowed except of the concerned legislator of the area. Besides, it
was agreed that presentation of final report of a Committee should be done on
time, before the expiry of the term/next session.
