Concludes weeklong tour of Ladakh region

NOUBRA, OCTOBER 14:  Advisor to Chief Minister, Professor Amitabh Mattoo today said that the Mehbooba Mufti led Government is committed to bring education at the doorstep of common man and various initiatives are already under implementation in this regard. 
Prof. Mattoo, who is chairman Knowledge Initiative Committee, was addressing peoples from various walks of life at Deskit Nubra in Leh. The function was also attended by Additional Secretary Higher Education, prominent educationists, members of civil societies of Nubra region and students of different educational institutions of the district. 
On the concluding day of his weeklong tour to the Ladakh region, the Advisor underlined the aim of the visit as to address the problems of student fraternity in and to ensure creation of basic educational infrastructure along with deployment of required faculties in all educational institutions besides imparting skill development courses to both the teaching staff and students so that they can have access to quality education.
While seeking feedback from various stakeholders and experts, Prof. Mattoo said that all constructive inputs would be translated to curve out a Vision Document for reorganization of education scenario that would in real terms lead the State and its future generations to overall development.
On the occasion, he appreciated the Education Minister, Syed Altaf Bukhari for his commitment towards improving the educational standard and infra in the State.
During the function at Deskit Nubra, Councillor Deskit Tsering Wangchuk and Councillor Turtuk Mehdi in sought immediate intervention in filling up of the vacant posts of lecturers and other subject teachers at all the educational institutes in Nubra. Principal Degree College, Nubra also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the issues and demands of the education sector in the subdivision.
SDM Nubra, Sonam Norbu thanked the Prof. Amitabh Mattoo and entire team of Knowledge Initiative and hoped that their visit would prove beneficial for the region in strengthening the education system.

The civil society of Nubra put forth charter of demands that includes holding of professional development training to upgrade the competency of teaching fraternity, capacity building workshops and exposure tours for teachers as well as students, vocational training courses in traditional knowledge, harnessing local human resources and talent, introduction of science and commerce streams in Higher Secondary School, construction of hostel and staff quarters, multipurpose hall, providing school bus and to address the issue of delay in conduct of examination and issuing of degree certificate and marks cards on priority.
