Javid Beigh chairs Govt Assurances Committee meeting;
Stresses on providing adequate staff in rural areas

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 03- A meeting of the Committee on Government
Assurances (GA) was held here today under the Chairmanship of MLA, Javid Hassan
Beigh to review the Government Assurances given by the Health & Medical
Education Department on the floor the House from time to time.
The Committee discussed the action taken by the Department on the
implementation of the Government Assurances contained in the 21st report of
the Committee, besides reply submitted by the department.
Legislators, Noor Mohammad Sheikh, Dina Nath Bhagat and Dr Krishan Lal
attended the meeting and gave their valuable suggestions regarding how to
improve the functioning of the department particularly in rural areas.
The Committee asked the concerned authorities to take necessary steps to
utilize resources available in the department so that people of the State could
get benefitted from the on-going schemes being carried by the department.
Raising the issues of dilapidated condition of buildings of health
institutions in rural areas, the committee also called for posting of adequate
medico and para medico staff in these health institutions.
They also
highlighted the issues including early completion of all
on-going works on PHCs, proper functioning of X-ray, ultra sound, laboratories and other
equipments, dispose of all waste materials lying in the hospitals, and proper
cleanliness in and around of health institutions.
They also demanded that at least two drivers attached with an ambulance,
proper utilization of solar system which have already been installed in the
hospitals, proper facilities to BPL card holders and to clear the stagnation on
promotion for the post of Anesthesia.
The Committee directed the concerned authorities to organize awareness
camps in every district of the State and involving all medical Pharmacists/
shops owner and warned them that they should not sell any type of addictive
drugs.
Principal Secretary Health & Medical Education, Dr Pawan Kotwal
briefed the committee about the action taken by the department on the
Government Assurances and informed the Committee that department has fulfilled
maximum issues and rest of the issues will be fulfilled.
He informed the Committee that the government has formulating a new
transfer policy of doctors posted in rural areas so that they can complete
their full tenure in particular areas.
After satisfied reply given by the department, the Committee dropped the
maximum Government Assurance.
Among others, Director Health Service, Kashmir/ Jammu Mission Director
NHM, Additional Secretary, Legislative Assembly, Naseem Jan, CMOs and others
seniors officers Health and Assembly Secretariat were also present in the
meeting.
