Modi and Sonia express sorrow over demise of singer Girija Devi

New Delhi, Oct 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday expressed their profound condolences over the demise of renowned singer Girija Devi. Mourning the death of Girija Devi, Mr Modi said in a tweet," I am saddened by the demise of Girija Devi. Indian classical music has lost one of its most melodious voices. My prayers with her admirers.' Mr Modi said ,'Girija Devi's passing away is a big loss to the Indian musical world. Her contribution to the field of classical music will always be remembered.' Congress President Sonia Gandhi in her condolence message, said," Girija Devi's demise has dealt a blow to the Indian classical music. An unprecedented loss to the Indian musical field, she was among one of the greatest voices, in the recent times in the country. Her death has cast a pall of gloom not only on her family members but also her fans and friends.It is a big loss to them.' The two leaders prayed for peace for the departed soul. UNI
