New Delhi, Oct 28: The BJP’s Bihar alliance partner Nitish Kumar led JD(U) on Saturday announced that it will contest the Gujarat Assembly election on its own and will not form an alliance with the BJP. “Earlier also we have contested from our traditional seats in Gujarat” party general secretary KC Tyagi told reporters here. “We will not form any alliance with any party, including the BJP”, he said. “We don't need to consult or take permission from anyone to contest election. Party will take its own decision”, he responded to a question on whether the party had consulted the BJP. Mr Tyagi said the party will zero in on four-five seats in Gujarat and will contest. Gujarat poll will be held on December 9 and 14. He claimed that the Election Commission had rejected the rebel JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav’s plea thrice to recognise his faction as ‘real’ JD (U) and the claim over the party symbol, the arrow. Both factions of the party is in a bitter war after Nitish Kumar junked the RJD-Congress alliance and allied with the BJP. UNI
