Srinagar,
Oct 10: Expressing concern over the 'ban without warning' on firecrackers
in Delhi this Diwali by the Supreme Court, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief
Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday asked what will happen to the sellers who
would have placed orders and stocked up firecrackers for the festival season.
“I’m not a fan of fireworks but what happens to the sellers who’d have placed
orders & stocked up for the festival season? Ban without warning,” Mr
Abdullah, who is the working president of National Conference (NC), wrote on
micro-blogging site twitter. Mr Abdullah was reacting to the apex court’s
decision on Monday to reinstate ban on the sale of firecrackers in and around
New Delhi ahead of Diwali to stop toxic smog from engulfing the region like
last year. The SC had on September 12 this year relaxed the restriction it
imposed on the sale of firecrackers last year, when the city struggled with its
worst air pollution after Diwali. UNI
