New Delhi, Nov 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called for early resumption of dialogue between Palestine and Israel for a comprehensive resolution of the dispute.
'We hope for early realisation of a sovereign, independent, united and viable Palestine, coexisting peacefully with Israel,’’ he said in a message on the eve of the International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian people.
The day is observed every year on November 29 as per a resolution passed by the UN General Assembly in 1977. It was on November 29, 1947 that the Assembly adopted the resolution on the partition of Palestine .
On the occasion, the Prime Minister, in his message released by the Permanent Mission of India to UN in New York, expressed solidarity with the Palestinian cause, and stressed on a negotiated resolution of the decades old dispute.
He said India has been a steadfast development partner of Palestine and extending financial and technical support, adding that India will continue to support development and nation building efforts of Palestine. UNI
