Agartala, Nov 28: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to withdraw its protest programme
of demonstrating in front of the Chief Minster’s official residence from today
for safe release of four bank officials who were
kidnapped by unidentified
miscreants on November 24 from Teliamura area.
BJP spokesperson Ashok Sinha claimed that police officials made a special
request to the party to withdraw the movement because it would hamper the
investigation and search of the kidnapped persons if the agitation organized in
front of CM’s residence, which BJP considered to be accepted for the time
being.
The party had issued ultimatum of 24 hrs for the release of bank officials and warned to sit in demonstration in front of the CM’s residence if they failed to rescue the
kidnapped persons within the deadline. But police could not make any headway into
the rescue operation till this morning and requested BJP to help them.
“The party is strict to its demand to release the bank officials who had been kidnapped by the unidentified miscreants three days ago. The law and order situation of the
state is steadily deteriorating everyday and Chief Minister is maintaining
silence over it, which is suspicious,” Sinha stated.
He said the ruling party always used the tactics of terror in every election to capture the
power by corrupt means and this year has no difference and added, “Delhi is
keeping a close watch on each and every development and election commission of
India team is scheduled to arrive today and we shall explain further the situation.”
Meanwhile, the united bank employees association last evening met DGP A K Shukla and demanded safe release of the employees. The Tripura Gramin Bank authority has
closed down their Taidu branch, as all four the employees were kidnapped. The employees have abstained from duty in Ampi branch of the bank out of fear that affected the banking system in the area. UNI
