GANDERBAL, NOVEMBER 10:- The
anti-encroachment drive that was started at massive scale by the district
administration under the supervision of District Development Commissioner Dr.
Piyush Singla is going on in its full swing with special emphasis on removal of
encroachments along water bodies, state land and kahcharai land.
It started with removing illegal encroachments around the Trout Nallah,
a canal near district hospital Duderhama which was a long pending demand of
locals.
In a bid to control the odour near district hospital and to enhance the
flow of water for irrigation, the district administration is continuously
monitoring the drive against encroachments on the embankments of this canal.
Illegal encroachments around the Karkhan Koul are also being removed to
keep it clean and maintain its original width. Special task team has been
formulated under supervision of respective Tehsildars to take strict action
promptly.
So far 37
kanals of Kahcharai and 7 kanals of State land had been retrieved from illegal
occupation at Guzhama, Wussan, Nuner Bobsipora and Sonamarg by the district
administration.
Dr. Piyush Singla has appealed the people not to encroach upon the
irrigation canals. He also said that, demolishing process is going on and will
continue till all the encroachments around the Nallahs are removed and appealed
the people to cooperate and make this drive successful.
