KULGAM, NOVEMBER 10:
Member Parliament, Nazir Ahmad Laway today inaugurated a day-long awareness
camp on the importance of livelihood schemes here in the premises of HSS Nehama
of Block Pombay in Kulgam District.
He was accompanied by
Deputy Commissioner, Talat Parvez Rohella & other district officers.
The programme which
was organised by district administration in collaboration with departments of
NRLM, Education and RDD was attended by a large number of unemployed youth,
different self help groups, college and school students and contact farmers
from agriculture, horticulture, sheep husbandry, sericulture and animal
husbandry.
Addressing the
gathering MP Laway expressed great happiness over the confidence, hardwork and
vision of youth & SHGs and said, “I believe progress in any village depends
on the initiative of youth and I’m happy to see our women moving forward in
life with their involvement in enterprising jobs,” he said.
Speaking on the
occasion, the DDC said that District Administration is fully determined to
improve agriculture sector through various promotional programmes and measures
like shifting towards orchard development and cash crop production with basic
infrastructure facilities.
The camp was attended
by Additional District Development Commissioner besides the district officers
of Industries, CEO, CHO, CAO, DSWO, Dy Director Sericulture, AD Fisheries,
KVIB, Lead Bank Manager, Nodal Officer NRLM, JK EDI who also spoke about
different livelihood related schemes operating in their departments.
