Bhubaneswar, Nov 16: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today hinted that investment to the tune of nearly Rs.30,000 crore will be pumped in to promote MSME sector in Eastern India during the next two years.
Inaugurating the Petrochemical Investor Conclave here being organized by the Indian Oil Corporation, Pradhan said the accelerated development of the eastern states is a focus area of the centre and the petrochemical investors conclave is yet another important initiative to attract investment in this high potential region. The Union Minister said over one lakh employment both direct and indirect, opportunities will be created through the MSME sector with the investment of Rs.30,000 crore. He asked the Odisha government to create a conducive ecosystem to promote the MSME sector, especially in port towns of Paradip, Dhamra and Gopalpur to take advantage of the economic development in the region.
Pradhan said the Chemical and Petrochemicals has agreed to participate through equity to the tune of Rs.40 crores in setting up of Plastic Park at an estimated cost of Rs.100 crore at Paradip in collaboration with the Odisha government. He also hinted on the request of the Odisha government,the IOCL has also agreed to participate in the SPV for Plastic Park at Paradip and said the amount of the equity will be decided at a later stage. Stating that Odisha coast's had emerged as the Energy gate of India, the Union Minister requested the state government to formulate a policy fixing the energy rate for next 20 years to attract investments.
