RAJOURI, NOVEMBER 16: District
Development Commissioner Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today set a deadline of December
31st for completion of work on buildings to 100 building-less schools being
constructed under Rs 10 crore project “Tameer”.
The DDC, while reviewing the progress on this ambitious project,
exhorted upon the executing agencies and concerned departments to redouble
their efforts for expeditious completion of these school buildings.
Elaborate discussion was held on school-wise progress on these under
construction school buildings including 5 in Rajouri block, 20 in Koteranka, 6
each in Thana Mandi and Dhangri, 10 each in Darhal and Manjakote, 3 each in
Kalakote and Planger, 4 in Doongi, 8 in khawas, 5 in Moghla, 12 in Rajnagar, 2
in Nowshera, 2 in Siot besides 1 each in Sunderbani, Qila Darhal, Panjgrain and
Seri blocks.
It was informed that, of 100 proposed school buildings, work has been
taken up on 89 buildings whereas in remaining 11 buildings, land disputes of
various natures have halted the construction work.
Concerned Tehsildar, BDO and ZEO were given a week’s time to
resolve the land dispute, failing which, the school buildings will be shifted
to other educational zones as per requirement.
Pertinently, the Project Tameer will be a major relief for more than
3500 students of 100 schools which are presently functioning without building.
Schools are being constructed through a task force involving MGNREGA
convergence.
Later, the meeting reviewed the progress on Open Defecation Free (ODF)
campaign under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin).
It was informed that 3422 Individual Household Latrines (IHHL) and 44
Sanitary Complexes were constructed involving an expenditure of Rs. 4.77 Crore.
Moreover, blocks Planger, Dhangri and Lamberi which are targeted under
ODF, 65%, 23% and 63% of households are provided with Individual Household
Latrines.
Dr. Shahid, while stressing for need to gear up efforts for cent percent
coverage under ODF, directed the BDOs to undertake innovative approach to
motivate the public to construct the toilets.
