New Delhi, Nov 9: As the national capital continues to choke a toxic haze, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced that a decision on re-introducing the Odd-Even formula to reduce regular vehicular congestion, was coming soon.
While expressing concern over the rise in the level of PM2.5 and PM10, the polluting particles in the air, Mr Kejriwal, however, blamed the stubble burning in neighbouring Punjab and Haryana states as the major cause for the present conditions. He said the local conditions in Delhi were not so much responsible for the choking smog, as was the smoke generated from crop burning in the neighbouring states that travelled to Delhi and other areas in the northern region of the country. He again appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal to give him time to discuss the issue. He said farmers need to be provided an economically-viable means of disposing off the crop residue, instead of being punished for stubble burning. UNI
