DIPR asks Media Institutions to send nominations
SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 03: The Press
Council of India (PCI) has invited media students from Jammu and Kashmir to
join the valedictory function of PCI’s Golden Jubilee celebrations in New
Delhi on 16 November 2017.
“We invite participation of 20 media students from Jammu and Kashmir led
by the faculty in the inaugural ceremony of the Golden Jubilee Year of Press
Council of India at New Delhi on 16 November 2017, coinciding with the
National Press Day,” said a communication from Ms Vibha Bhargava, Secretary PCI addressed to
Muneer-ul-Islam, Director Information & Public Relations, Govt of J&K.
According to the communication, the event will provide a platform for
the participants from across the world including World Association of Press
Councils, Press Associations, Media Councils and Media Professionals to discuss
the issues confronting the media. “The deliberations this year are
centred around - Challenges before the Media,” said the
communication adding that National Awards for Excellence in Journalism would be
also conferred at the event.
The Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) has,
accordingly, asked all the Media Studies institutions in J&K to nominate 3
students and one faculty member each for participation in the Golden Jubilee
celebrations of PCI at New Delhi on16 November.

Pertinently, of late DIPR has initiated various measures to create
professional avenues for JK’s media students, both within and
outside the State, and also help sharpen their core skills for the emerging job
market.
