Islamabad, Nov 22: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has apparently decided to send his
controversial Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on a "holiday".
The development was unearthed by Dunya News in
its programme, Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath. The announcement of this decision is
likely to be made shortly.
According to the details, the Finance Ministry will be given to a close friend of PM Abbasi following Dar’s elimination. After the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) cases, Ishaq Dar is being criticised continuously for holding his office both by political as well as journalist fraternities. Noted economist Dr Ashfaq Hassan remarked that the indecisive state of government over Ishaq Dar’s case was ridiculous. It was earlier rumoured that Ishaq Dar had decided to resign owing to bad health, but PM’s spokesman Musadik Malik confirmed that Dar would continue to keep the Ministry.
It has been disclosed that the Prime Minister requested Ishaq Dar twice to resign but the minister refused to do so by saying that it was not the proper time. It is worth mentioning here that the Accountability Court had declared Ishaq Dar an absconder on Tuesday and rejected the minister’s petition in which he sought immunity from hearing of assets beyond known sources of income reference.
