Nov 14: Rail service has been suspended for security reasons in north
Kashmir, where two local militants of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) were killed in an
encounter with security forces on Monday evening.
However, trains continued to chug from Badgam-Srinagar in central Kashmir to Anantnag and Qazigund in south to Banihal in Jammu region, a senior railway official. All trains on this route are running as per schedule, he added. He said all train services will remain suspended on Srinagar-Badgam to Baramulla in north Kashmir for security forces. An advisory was received from police on Monday night to suspend rail service in north Kashmir, he said, adding that 'we are acting on the advice of civil and police authorities.' Among two HM militants killed in Handwara area of north Kashmir district of Kupwara, one was resident of Sopore and another Palhalan Pattan in Baramulla district. UNI
