Lucknow,
Nov 13: With Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath set to launch the BJP's
whirlwind poll campaigning for the crucial civic elections in Uttar Pradesh
tomorrow, the ruling party has taken a lead in it in comparison to other
parties.
While the BJP has engaged all its state-level leaders in the campaigning with even renting choppers to ferry the leaders to far-flung areas, the spirit seems to be missing in Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and even the Congress. Although the SP and BSP have not engaged their senior leadership in the campaigning with the Congress giving responsibility to its state leaders, the BJP is throwing all its might and power in this elections particularly in the 16 Mayoral elections. CM Yogi Adityanath is slated to launch the BJP's polls campaign from Ayodhya from tomorrow. This will be first time that any CM would campaign in the civic polls.
The three-phase polls would be held on November 22, 26 and 29 with counting of votes on December 1. Meanwhile, the BJP has criticised the SP for terming the party's manifesto for the urban local bodies polls 'fake'. Party's general secretary and poll in-charge of Meerut Vijay Bahadur Pathak said that, the opposition parties have no courage to promise before the people about their commitment in this elections. 'The 28-point BJP manifesto gives the voters to think that what they will get if their support us. But on the other hand the opposition, including the SP and BSP, has no such commitment. They are just trying to confuse the people and get vote," he told reporters in Meerut on Monday. Yesterday, SP president Akhilesh Yadav had tweeted that BJP had announced a ' chaal patra' for the civic polls. Mr Pathak even questioned whether the senior leaders of the opposition were scared of campaigning. 'They know that they will suffer a humiliating defeat in the elections, hence they were not ready to campaign for their candidates," he said. UNI
